The two Rotary Clubs along with the Interact Club of Wando High School that is sponsored by the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club participated in "Happy Feet" on Saturday, October 3, 2009. The Mount Pleasant Target store provided the venue and children were given the opportunity to select and receive a new pair of shoes.

The 12 schools of Mt Pleasant provide names of needy students to the Rotary Clubs and the students are then asked to show up at the Target Store on a Saturday morning to receive free shoes. This year's event provided free shoes to 186 students. The event also offers an opportunity for the Wando High School Interact Club to participate by escorting the younger students thru the store and help them pick out their shoes. The two Rotary Clubs had 30 volunteers participating and sharing fellowship throughout the morning and helping students get their shoes.
